Dear ARF Friends,
Summer is a time when we have many kittens, cats, puppies and dogs and no large fundraisers between our March auction and our September pet walk.
A lot of animals mean a lot of money spent on their care; more hours spent caring for them by our wonderful caregivers, and few donations.
This summer is starting off as a very hot summer so our utility bills reflect this. Our power bill for the past month is $500. The April veterinary bills total $1400.00 and May veterinary bills total $2100.00. Minimum wage is going up to $6.55 an hour. Our caregivers deserve so much more!
With those immediate and consistent needs in mind, we are asking your help to get ARF through the summer months. You can donate to ARF with a credit card through our website and PayPal, mail us a check, or drop off a check at the shelter (711 S. Wilkinson St.).

Animal Rescue Foundation is holding a Buy-A-Brick fundraiser to help celebrate its 25th anniversary. Each 4 x 8 inch brick sells for $75 and includes a personalized engraving--perhaps in memory of a beloved pet, in honor of a person or in celebration of a special event in your life. Each brick can hold three lines of text, up to 15 characters per line. The bricks will be incorporated into the Commemorative Garden in front of ARF. Download an order form here.
In addition to the memorial bricks, ARF also has two elegant granite benches donated by Rick Williams of Williams Funeral Home. These benches are also available for your memorial message. The Animal Rescue Foundation has partnered with HomeAgain to offer you another way to protect your dog. A microchip can be quickly and easily inserted under the dog's skin. If your dog ever becomes lost and is found by Animal Control or taken to a participating veterinarian, it can be scanned and returned to you. You can make an appointment for this service any time during normal shelter hours--Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm. Plan to spend at least half an hour at the shelter for this procedure. Registration must be completed at the time of microchip insertion. The price is $40 for your first pet and $25 for each additional pet brought in the same visit. This one-time enrollment price includes the microchip, one-time activation fee and a one year membership in the HomeAgain Pet Recovery Service. When you arrive for your appointment, your dog must be on a leash or contained in a pet taxi.
